If you are organizing a congress, convention or exhibition, León already has what you are looking for. In September 2026, Poliforum León and the León District MX hosted events from very different sectors, and the results show why more and more organizers are turning their attention to this city.

A destination that has already attracted the big names

The automotive industry filled the venue with more than 12,500 visitors, 460 exhibiting companies, and more than 2,000 scheduled business meetings, in a forum estimated at $275 million in potential revenue. The veterinary community gathered at the congress, which Mayor Ale Gutiérrez described as the largest in the world in its field, with 15 countries represented. The Mexican Academy of Surgery chose León to hold its first session in 93 years outside of Mexico City, attracted by its world-class infrastructure.

Poliforum León: a venue for all kinds of events

Poliforum León has 42,000 square meters of halls and multifunctional areas within a 67-hectare business, culture and entertainment complex at the intersection of the city's two main roads.

  • Conferences and conventions: more than 12,000 m² on two levels, with rooms for 10 to 5,000 people on one floor and more than 20 simultaneous breakout rooms, in addition to the plenary rooms.
  • Exhibitions: over 22,000 m² in four halls, with 11 meters of column-free height. It accommodates events from 2,500 to 42,000 m², and can host several different events at the same time without logistical problems.
  • Business and social events: over 12,000 m², with areas for musical groups and shows, and rooms that can be divided without interruption by noise.
  • Great capacity: up to 24 thousand people in an auditorium-type configuration.

Its history began on June 29, 1979, when a group of entrepreneurs launched an event center to showcase SAPICA and ANPIC, the most representative exhibitions in the footwear industry. Since then, it has been the venue for important events in the city and the country, even international and world-class ones. It was also the first venue in the country to have a hotel nearby, the Courtyard by Marriott.

District León MX: much more than just a venue

Poliforum is part of the León District MX, a complex for business, art and culture, entertainment, science, sports and academia.

Here they coexist:

  • Forum Cultural Guanajuato: with the Guanajuato Museum of Art and History, the Roberto Plasencia Saldaña Bicentennial Theater, the Mateo Herrera Concert Hall, and gardens for outdoor activities.
  • Explora: a science and technology center with five rooms, a creative laboratory, and an Environmental Education Center.
  • León State Fair: the most important family fair in the country, which is held in January to commemorate the anniversary of the city's founding.
  • Estadio León: the most important football stadium in the Bajío region, home to Club León and the venue for World Cups in 1970 and 1986.
  • University of Guanajuato: with its home within the complex.

For the organizers and their attendees, this means an offering that goes beyond the conference room: culture, science, sports, and entertainment are just steps from the event venue.

Hotels with great infrastructure

León also has large-scale infrastructure hotels to accommodate the attendees and organizers. Discover the city's hotel offerings, [CLICK HERE].

A city that adds value

The congresses generate economic spillover (450 million pesos were projected just for the Veterinary Congress) and attract attendees from Jalisco, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí and Michoacán, as well as international visitors. The automotive industry, for its part, generates more than 220,000 jobs in the city.
