This year, the celebration includes 38 free activities, in addition to patriotic decorations in various parts of the city. The festivities began on August 21 and will continue until September 23, so there will be plenty of opportunities to discover León during your visit.
Oaxaca arrives in León with its cultural wealth
One of the special attractions of this celebration will be the participation of Oaxaca as a guest state, which will bring the city a showcase of its traditions, handicrafts, and cultural expressions.
The Expo Oaxaca is already part of the program and will be complemented by one of the most representative cultural events in the state: La Guelaguetza, which will arrive in León on September 5 and 6.
The presence of Oaxaca makes the patriotic celebrations an opportunity to get to know and enjoy the cultural diversity of Mexico without leaving León.
Music and dance to celebrate September
The tradition will also reach the city's stages.
From September 3 to 6, the Plaza Expiatorio will host the 41st Folklore Dance Exhibition, where different expressions of traditional dance will be part of the celebration.
On September 4, the program will continue with “Raíces”, a musical proposal that will bring together director Juan Trigos with the León School of Music.
And the cultural agenda will continue over the next few days. On September 14, the Teatro Manuel Doblado will celebrate its 146th anniversary with the participation of the León Municipal Band and the presentation of María Grever: Eternamente.
In addition, on September 19, the play Las Fridas will arrive in León for the first time, also at the Teatro Manuel Doblado, adding a theatrical proposal to the celebration.
The great Mexican night will be on September 15th
If you want to experience a night full of Mexican atmosphere, September 15th will be one of the main dates to visit León.
